According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Cerebral Palsy, or CP, is classified as a neurological disorder appearing first in the early developing child including infancy.

It is said to be a permanent condition, affecting body movement and coordination of muscles, and that it is caused by “damage to or abnormalities inside the developing brain”.

But does the effects of this brain damage or abnormalities of the brain have to cause permanent deficits? Chiropractic research has demonstrated otherwise.

In a study done in the journal of Chiropractic Pediatrics, chiropractic care has been shown to increase the overall health of both children and adults with cerebral palsy.

A 1994 study of 2 children and 5 adults reported decreases in muscle spasticity, improvement in sleep patterns, decreased pain and irritability, and higher resistance to infections.

Not only did, chiropractic improve issues with muscle previously said to be permanent, but it increased quality of life with stronger immunity.

If you or someone you love is affected adversely by CP, have them checked by your Kennesaw area chiropractor today!
