Not surprisingly, a woman’s body will undergo significant changes throughout the course of pregnancy and childbirth. However, the incidence of back pain and discomfort throughout pregnancy is staggeringly high. Up to 90% of women experience some kind of back pain and/ or spinal problem during pregnancy.
Fortunately, there is a solution! Gentle and specific chiropractic care has been shown to help ease the discomfort of pregnancy to some degree, and even lessen the need for drug use through delivery.
In 1987, the American Medical Association released records showing that women who received chiropractic care during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy were able to carry their babies to term and deliver them in greater comfort.
The need for painkillers during delivery was also cut in half. Other studies indicate that women who receive regular chiropractic care during pregnancy have shorter and easier labors.
