I had a patient today tell me that they were in the ER the other night with their child because he was having an asthma attack. She said they put him on all types of medications that she wasn’t thrilled about, but was grateful that his status had normalized.

I couldn’t help but think of the studies that show how chiropractic care can help people like her son. For example, in this one particular study, 81 children diagnosed with asthma were evaluated before and after 2 months of chiropractic care. They determined that 90.1% reported less impairment caused by asthma following treatment, and 30.9% voluntarily decreased the amount of asthma medication they were taking.

Chiropractic care also appeared to decreased the number of asthma attacks by an average of 44.9%. Adults also appear to improve with regular chiropractic care. In this study, 95% of patients with bronchial asthma reported that both peak flow rate (how much air they could take in) and vital capacity (how much air their lungs could hold at one time) increased after their 3rd adjustment.
