Chiropractic Improves Childhood Behavior

Childhood behavioral issues can be a major problem for a family.  Poor childhood behavior can be a significant stressor for the entire family and cause a lot of unnecessary disputes.  Chiropractic care has been shown to improve both the mood and behavior of children and adults.

Chiropractic care works by reducing stress and tension on the spine and nervous system.  Stress and tension on the spine can cause an increase in stress hormones that lead to anxiety and irritability and decrease calming neurotransmitters in the brain.

Chiropractic adjustments help to reduce that stress and tension and balance the excitatory and calming neurotransmitters.  This allows for a healthy, positive mood and overall ease in the brain and body.

15 Month Study

There are numerous case studies that report positive changes in behavior and psychology in both children & adults following chiropractic care.  For 15 months in 1930-31, 244 boys who were incarcerated in a reform school in Greendale, Kentucky, were placed under chiropractic care.

Of those 244, 155 were considered “completely recovered or greatly benefited” by chiropractic at the end of the 15 months.  Teachers at the school noted improvement in the boys from their very first adjustments.  Schoolwork, health, and general attitude all improved markedly.  The teachers were so impressed, they voluntarily signed a petition asking for a full-time chiropractor for the school.

Remarkable Results

The superintendent of Kentucky’s reform schools wrote, “I have been able to notice a marked improvement in the mental and physical condition of the boys and in school work and conduct; also there has been a larger number of paroles during that period than any previous period during the past 4 years…We have been able to accomplish results beyond our fondest hopes and expectations in the rehabilitation of these boys.”

How do results like this happen?  These boys, just like most people in society were adapting poorly to stress.  From a physical stress, we carry our stress and tension in our spine…which bears our weight against gravity each and everyday.

Chiropractic care is the best way to reduce stress and tension on the spine and body.  By reducing this stress and tension, the body is able to heal and function optimally…which allows for normal behavior.
