7 Action Steps to Improve Your Health

7 Action Steps to Improve Your Health:

Here are 7 important things you can do on your own to dramatically improve your health and quality of life on a daily basis.  These 7 things are available to us all…we just have to have the awareness and the discipline to do them. 

1. Hydrate Well: 

Our body should be 60-70% water.  Water is critical to energy, pain relief and detoxification and weight loss.  Drink 16oz of water within the first 20 mins after waking in the morning and aim to drink a minimum of half your body weight in ounces. 


2. Move Your Body: 

Get out and move your body.  Movement is life and we must move to have health and quality of life. Begin with something simple like walking or swimming, or move on to something more advanced like resistance training. 

3.  Cut Out Sugar: 

Look to get rid of sugar and things that turn into sugar and focus on getting lots of good fats in the form of coconut oil, olives and olive oil, avocados and butter from grass-fed cows into your diet.  Replace your grains and breads with greens and herbs.  Use lots of vegetables and herbs throughout the day. 


4. Laugh More: 

Laughter is truly our best medicine as it stimulates endorphins that help us to heal and feel better.  Take time to watch comedies and be around funny people.  Try to find humor in your daily challenges as it can be extremely therapeutic for you.


5. Sleep Well: 

Prioritize sleep and try to get to bed by 10pm every night if possible.  1 hour of sleep before midnight is equivalent to 3 hours of sleep after midnight.  Going to bed early helps your body to heal and regenerate more effectively. 

6. Focus on Your Breathing: 

We are all under a tremendous amount of stress in today’s day and age.  We may not be able to control all of our stressors, but we can control our breath.  Take 2 mins every hour and slow down your breathing.  Take a 5 second inhalation, 2 second pause and 5 second exhalation.  This rhythm will be great for reducing stress hormones and helping you heal faster and feel better.


7.  Live With a Purpose: 

God put you on the planet for an important reason.  Remind yourself every day of what your purpose is.  Whether it seems big or small…God wants to use us all.  Ask Him to make you an instrument of His love and light today.
